Similarly ,In a different shot we see her looking out of a large window this looks as if she is looking out of a fish tank, it signifies her being trapped in poverty. This small detail is significant to the ending as it reveals she has been set free from her isolated environment. Furthermore, the mid-shot uses dark lighting on the inside and bright on the outside of the ‘fish tank’ this is done to highlight the fact she is trapped in a toxic lifestyle and outside of it is much better.Image result for fish tank film window

Within the audio codes our protagonist Mia uses explicit language, this tiny detail tells the audience that she is working class and lives in a rough area. It is one of the first times we get a insight to her personality.

The camera tends to constantly track Mia so we see the story unfold from her perspective, it also makes us take her side in the story. We then see a mid shot of Mia which reveals her wearing a tracksuit, yet again this unveils her personality and follows stereotypes of people and estates.

The film follows themes of neglect, poverty, abuse, violence and isolation. Mia is shown to be neglected by her mother ,in addition she is used as a vehicle to show violence, this is a stereotype of young youths in estates. Due to this , the protagonist is isolated. The mise en scene links to this,in fish tank highlights to poverty for example the flats gives a clue to what the characters this is done without speech being necessary to know this.

In conclusion, Fish tank is rated 91% Rotten Tomatoes , the worldwide total is $1,986,709 which proves the film was successful,
