The writer who are responsible for Casablanca are the Epstein brothers who were the first set of writers assigned to the film, however they left for a while and when returned was joined by Howard Koch who wrote the first 40 lines of the script. Wallis and Curtiz set the film before the pearl harbour so it doesn't interfere with the other parts of the story line. Wallis wrote the last line ,which was a key part of the film as it symbolised uncertainty just like it was uncertain who would win the war.

Wallis was in charge of the film choose his close friend Michael Curtiz to direct the film, Curtiz aims were to express each part as a story rather than standing on its own ,which is clearly shown throughout as it seems like each character could have their own story line.

Arthur Edeson was the cinematographer for the film,he was an film noir expressionist ,the element of film noir is shown clearly throughout the film as there is many shadows such as the bars and hats that cast shadows across faces.

Some of the music was written by Max Stiener, he planned for the most memorable songs such as ‘as time goes by’ to be played in Ricks cafe.
