Annabelle Creation review

My review is on Annabelle Creation 2017 it is associated with the genre of horror. The film showed key elements of horror such as jump scares darkness , a sinister theme  and a dark storyline, which I believe made the film more intriguing. However because in the genre of horror the storylines are constantly re told therefore some parts were too predictable at times ,as it was familiar which meant at times it seemed uneventful.
The camera movements/angles made me as a viewer feel just as vulnerable as the actresses shown , this was because the audience saw everything from their perspective ,so it seemed like we was in danger with them and in some ways felt the same way. This was done by the camera constantly following the characters in danger as well as never showing where the sinister creature was coming from. Personally I thought this was a good thing as it made us as the audience want to know what happened next and left us on the edge of our seats. Furthermore the sound effects were dramatic which intensified the action happening within the film and left me captivated. I think this was effective as it engaged the audience further.
Additionally the performance’s by the actors and the actresses were good because seemed realistic, in my opinion it made the storyline more powerful ,for the fact that it seemed like a real life situation. Talitha Bateman played the role of a young orphan crippled by polio who was commenced in danger by the possessed doll. In my perspective she fitted into the role perfectly and her performance was one of the best. On the other hand I think that Grace Fulton performance was the worst because I felt like at times the role didn’t suit her and it was obvious she was acting, this sometimes affected the film overall .In summary I thought the acting of all actors and actresses were good but there was occasional slip ups.
Annabelle creation is part of a sequel which was cleverly put together as Annabelle creation fitted exactly into the first Annabelle film ,the sequel was taken over by David F. Sandberg. Sandberg took ideas from 1963 physiological horror film ‘The Haunting’ because he liked the use of cinemascope cinematography; he also took inspiration from ‘The Shining’ for the films chilling music.During the process of the production Samberg did not create storyboards instead he went with the flow, as he wanted to work it out together with the team.

To summarise I thought the film was very entertaining and the aspects of horror were chilling which made me interested to find out what happened next. The performance was good however there were some parts which were better than others. Moreover the way the film was shot was very effective as it made the film seem more realistic because you felt like you was the one in the film. Although I feel like the production company and director took far too much inspiration/elements from other films which made it similar to other horror films.
